Now, I&#8217;m by no means an expert, who only believes in charcoal and takes a million precautions to make sure everything&#8217;s &#8220;just right.&#8221; \u00a0Instead, I&#8217;m a\u00a0lady who\u00a0has an appreciation for\u00a0the healthy quick meals I can put together on my gas grill. Largely because,\u00a0meals made outside require very, little clean-up.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite grilling cookbook, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bobbyflay.com\/shop.php?action=shop_books_details&amp;id=4\" target=\"_blank\">Grill It!,<\/a>\u00a0by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bobbyflay.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bobby Flay<\/a>\u00a0is a great resource for those learning to grill. Each section describes the basics of\u00a0grilling\u00a0a certain item, like chicken, corn or burgers. It then goes\u00a0on to provide\u00a0great recipes for basting,\u00a0marinating and generally,\u00a0jazzing\u00a0up simple ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend, I picked up some corn at the farmers&#8217; market. Cooking it on the grill is really simple, and the smoke gives it a nice,\u00a0toasted flavor. I used Bobby Flay&#8217;s method.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Grilled Corn<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Serves 2<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2 ears of corn<\/p>\n<p>1 tbsp. salt<\/p>\n<p>1\/2 of lime (my addition)<\/p>\n<p>Pull back the husks of the corn, being careful to leave them still attached.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/img_0801.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1133\" title=\"IMG_0801\" src=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/img_0801.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Remove the silks and then, pull the husks back up around the corn. Place the corn\u00a0in a bowl of cold water or the sink with a tablespoon of\u00a0salt. Let them sit for\u00a010 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/img_0802.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1134\" title=\"IMG_0802\" src=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/img_0802.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Remove them from the water, shaking off\u00a0any excess moisture.\u00a0Add them to a hot grill and close the lid. Cook them for 15-20 minutes, rotating\u00a0the ears every 5 minutes to ensure each side is evenly cooked. You can tell they&#8217;re done\u00a0when the kernels are easily pierced with a fork.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/img_0808.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1135\" title=\"IMG_0808\" src=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.files.wordpress.com\/2011\/07\/img_0808.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Take them off the grill and then, once they&#8217;ve cooled a bit, peel off the husks. I sliced off the end of each ear\u00a0to make removing the husks easier. The corn gets very hot. Squeeze half of a lime over the cobs or add butter and salt.
