To say things have not been awesome would be an understatement. <\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/The-House-Girl-A-Novel\/dp\/0062207393\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1378167486&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=house+girl\" target=\"_blank\">book<\/a>, however, is pretty spectacular. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/housegirl.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/housegirl.jpg?w=198\" alt=\"HouseGirl\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2928\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My mom had lent it to me with a glowing recommendation, so I decided to give it a whirl. I read the entire thing on a girl&#8217;s trip to Savannah, which was really wonderful (more on that soon). The House Girl follows the stories of a modern woman who is a lawyer in New York and a house slave in the south. Both narratives center around a mystery. There are a few big surprises, so I don&#8217;t want to go into too much detail here. I will say the story is well-written and compelling.
