I&#8217;d heard about these kinds of events a few years ago and mourned the fact that Kansas City didn&#8217;t have one. You can imagine my delight when I first learned\u00a0this unique dining experience existed in Kansas City. Each month, a dinner is held at a secret location, and\u00a0a local chef cooks an intimate dinner for a small group of people. The menus are typically pretty ambitious and a departure from the dishes found at their restaurant.\u00a0\u00a0My dinner was made by the charming\u00a0chefs* at <a href=\"http:\/\/grunauerkc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Grunauer<\/a>**\u00a0and was one of the best I&#8217;ve ever had. In case\u00a0my word isn&#8217;t good enough, I&#8217;ve included the menu I ate below.\u00a0 Every course was paired with a drink:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>\u201cThe Taste of a Place\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align:left;\">Cocktail Hour:\u00a0pumpkin seed oil, fat washed rye with lemon, egg whites, agave nectar\u00a0 &amp; jerry\u00a0thomas bitters, garnished with orange zest\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align:left;\">One: mousse duo of duck liver and butternut squash with Schloss Gobelsburg Ros\u00e9\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align:left;\">Two: boiled beef in madeira aspic\u00a0with Heidi Schrock\u00a0Furmint\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align:left;\">Three: fabriqu\u00e9s\u00a0\u00e0 partir de porc seared pork scallop with lingonberry and apple schnapps glaze with Gew\u00fcrztraminer\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align:left;\">Four:\u00a0crusted loin of veal with crispy leaks and seared creminis\u00a0with Glatzer St. Laurent\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align:left;\">Five: parfait of walnuts and fruit with Pedro Romero Cream Sherry\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align:left;\">Six: topfen\u00a0kn\u00f6de farmers cheese dumpling with Schlumberger Sparkling\u00a0<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align:left;\">Seven: traditional European digestive Williams Purkhardt Pear Eau de Vie\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\"><strong>How You Can Dine Secretly:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">To secure a spot at Test Kitchen, visit their Web site, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.testkitchen.com\/\">www.testkitchenkc.com<\/a> and register. Once you&#8217;ve signed up, you&#8217;ll receive an invitation each month to place your name in the lottery with the number of tickets you&#8217;d like. Then, if you&#8217;re selected, you&#8217;ll receive an e-mail telling you that you&#8217;re in. Each person then has a few days to pay for their tickets and reserve their spot. After receiving your donation, you&#8217;ll receive another e-mail with details about the event, i.e. the secret location.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">*I know they&#8217;re charming, because they introduced each course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">**If you haven&#8217;t tried Grunauer\u00a0yet, do it soon. The food is fantastic. I still think about the cabbage, and we ate there weeks ago.
