I’m back with another edition of “what to read right now.” Here, I’ve rounded up five books that I’ve read over the last several months. For each one, I’ve written a short review to give you an idea of how much I liked it.<\/p>\n

I Owe You One<\/strong><\/a> – I have been a Sophie Kinsella fan for years. Her lighthearted books are always a quick read and a bit of an escape from daily life. However, sometimes, the characters miss the mark for me, and unfortunately, I found myself a little irritated and impatient with the heroine. She was a natural helper, and I wanted her to STOP doing things for people who didn’t appreciate it. All that to say, I think if this is a personality trait that does not bother you, you might like it.<\/p>\n

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo<\/strong><\/a> – I read this novel by Taylor Jenkins, because I loved Daisy Jones & the Six<\/em> so much. I’d heard from others that they liked this one better, but I’d have to disagree. While fascinating, the characters in this one were a little less likable for me. They are, however, well drawn and rich. Each one is complex, and the story will have you flying through the pages to discover all of Evelyn’s secrets.<\/p>\n

The Unhoneymooners<\/strong><\/a> – This book was charming. And easy. And exactly what you need for a busy season of your life. It centers around two people who don’t like each other, although their siblings are marrying one another. By a twist of fate, they end up on vacation together. The rest is predictably fun.<\/p>\n

Daisy Jones & the Six<\/strong><\/a> – It reads like a memoir or biopic, but is total fiction. Told through interviews, I wasn’t sure I’d like the format, but as I mentioned above, I loved it. This smart story had me wanting to google each of the band members and listen to their music.<\/p>\n

Save Me the Plums<\/a><\/strong> – Last spring, I went to an author signing with Ruth Reichl, former editor-in-chief of Gourmet magazine and acclaimed food writer. This particular book shares her experience at the magazine, including it’s closing. If you are a foodie, I think you’ll love this behind-the-scenes look at the New York restaurant scene and Conde Nast.<\/p>\n
