Thanks!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This year, I chose five items off my <a href=\"http:\/\/missalaneyus.com\/life-list\/\" target=\"_blank\">Life List<\/a> as New Year&#8217;s Resolutions. While a few were difficult, I also selected some that would be simple and fun. Throwing a champagne brunch was on my list, and let me tell you, I&#8217;ve never been more excited to check a resolution off my list.<\/p>\n<p>There was talk of Kardashians, movies and JT. It was a good day. I have a really fun group of friends.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_4505 by missalaneyus, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/misslaney\/8409908280\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_4505\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8356\/8409908280_a7744073b1.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had a hard time setting the menu. I usually try to find a balance of sweet and savory, but this time, I chose mostly sweets. I wanted the brunch to feel feminine and girly, so I made:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/blog\/2012\/10\/roasted-pear-and-chocolate-chunk-scones\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roasted Pear and Chocolate Scones<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/mixed-citrus-salad-with-feta-and-mint\/\" target=\"_blank\">A Citrus Salad<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/cinnamon-toast-french-toast-cookbook-preview\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cinnamon Toast French Toast<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/claire-robinson\/maple-candied-bacon-recipe\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Maple Candied Bacon<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Despite a few snafus (I wasn&#8217;t convinced my French toast was done, so I had to throw it back in the oven after I&#8217;d already started serving), everything turned out well. In general, there are a few things I&#8217;ve started doing to make entertaining easier. Many of which I learned from the Barefoot Contessa. I made as much as I could ahead of time and set the table the night before.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to make the menu, here&#8217;s the gameplan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The scones can be made ahead of time and frozen before their baked.<\/li>\n<li>Slice the citrus the day before.<\/li>\n<li>The french toast bake\u00a0can be assembled the night before.<\/li>\n<li>The day of,\u00a0bake the scones first.
