Last summer, we took a trip to Berlin, Prague, and Vienna. In this post, I’m sharing our favorite stops and experiences from the Prague leg of our trip.
My grandpa’s family immigrated to the U.S. from the Czech Republic (Bohemia). Every time I visited him, we would exchange “How are you’s?” and “I’m fine’s” in Czech. So, you can imagine how special it was to see Prague in person.
While Berlin was urban and gritty, Prague looked like something out of a fairytale with beautiful architecture and vistas around every corner of Old Town. The weather there was much warmer, and money stretched much further than it had in Berlin. (As you can imagine, it had the tourist crowds to go with that winning combination.)

Where to Stay in Prague
In Prague, we lived like kings in a gorgeous apartment. We loved the space and location. But, I do have two notes. One, the beds weren’t very comfortable. Two, if you’re going to be there longer or if you’re not hitting up the main attractions, I’d stay a little further away from this busy area.
What to Eat in Prague
There were a few standout restaurants in Prague. These are our favorites:
- Da Pietro Praha – This was a delicious pizza restaurant. We all loved it.
- Savoy Cafe – The Savoy Cafe is a quintessential stop for anyone visiting Prague. I’d recommend grabbing breakfast or a late afternoon snack here. The architecture is spectacular in this historic building.
- Kolacherie – We grabbed a few kolaches here, and they were all very, very good.
- Lokál Dlouhááá – A classic beer hall, Lokal Dlouhaa is known for the sheer size of the space. However, we found the food and service to be equally noteworthy.
- Pork’s – Pork’s was very busy, but a great spot to grab a casual lunch. We didn’t have reservations, but if you can plan your day ahead, I’d recommend grabbing them, so you can avoid the wait.
- Gilda’s – This was a cute little tapas bar. It offered a nice break from the steady stream of schnitzel we were consuming.

Where to Go in Prague
We weren’t in Prague for very long, but we still covered a lot of ground. I don’t feel that we missed out on anything even with our short timespan.
Day One
We arrived in Prague around 3:30 PM. By the time we checked into our hotel, it was later in the day, so we kept it really simple. We went for a quick stroll to see the St. Charles River and stumbled upon the cutest little park.

Day Two
We got up early to beat the heat and the crowds. First up, we crossed the Charles Bridge and headed to breakfast at the Savoy. Then, we went to Old Town to wander around and see the Astronomical Clock. We also grabbed kolaches and visited Wenclas Square. I’d say you can skip the square but not the baked goods.
I had planned on doing some shopping here, but instead, when we went back to our apartment, I wandered over to this shop. They have really beautiful pieces from local artists and will ship your treasures to you. Win, win.

Day Three
We toured Prague Castle on our last full day here. Before going, I’d set your expectations. Some of the castle was open to the public, but the majority of our visit was spent inside the church. While it was beautiful, our castle loving daughter was a little less into it.
